Sweet 16 - ( translated)

Finally I can say: “Sweet 16”!

Of course that my idea of birthday was something small and intimal, just for the closest people.

But of course that didn’t happen.

Not in the Peter’s Family.

To be honest, it seems like was my mom that was turning 16! She was a lot more excited than me, she couldn’t stop talking about the party, she made the list  of the invited people... Everything.

I just stayed on my bed, at my computer, talking with my friends.

“EEi! How is the future Miss 16,?” – Sue, my best friend, said calling me on Facebook.

“I’m fine! OH, you know... It’s just going to be one more birthday party that my mom is more excited than me”

“Stop with that, babe. Practically the whole city will be there, cheering with you! You have to cheer up! It’s tomorrow!”

“iupiii” – I answered her, ironically.

Who I really wanted to come, wouldn’t. Actually, I’m na idiot..

How is it possible to a person have a crush on a boy from another school that don’t even know that I exist? Yes, that’s me.. Rebecca Peter.

“I know that you want him there. I still cant understand why you didn’t invite him.. I want to kill you!” – She said, taking me away from my thoughts.

“Are you crazy? We just have boy friends in common, can you imagine I coming up to a guy and saying “hey, can you call that friend of yours to my party?”. It would be so ridiculous!”

“And so what, Rebecca? Are you playing hard to get now?”

“yea, I will. He’s so hot. Every girl wants him. And so do I! And I feel bad for it, ok? It’s done. End of discussion”

“You will regret it”

“Will see”

I know I would, but I couldn’t admit it.

-

It was today.

Suddenly I woke up feeling a little bit excited.

-Good morning, birthday girl! – my mom came no hug me and started with that speech “today is your birthday, but it wasa me that won a present when you were born..”

-Thanks, mommy. Thanks. – I said, kissing her and laughing.

-Your dad left to buy our present for you, as always, he’s late.

- That’s ok. – I put some coffee for me. – What time we’ll go to the club?

You thought my party was going to be at my house? Course not.

My mom insured herself to close a club just for my part.

-The people will probably arrive at 20 pm. We can show up around 21, what do you think?
-That’s okay for me.

-We won’t be there the whole time, okay? – I frowned. – Me and your dad.

I sighed, relieved.

-It’s up to you guys, mom.

-Naah. You deserve your privacy with your friends. – she passed by me, kissing the top of my head.
Now the party is on.

-

It was about 21 pm when I arrived at the club. It seems like everybody was expecting me: all the people came to talk to me when I got there. So cute!

-You look amazing! – Sue hugged me – happy 16th birthday! – she said.

-Thanks, bab.

-Let’s go! The night is yours!

We came close to the dance floor when everyone was getting around.

The music playing was good – so was the DJ! – there was a lot people that I wasn’t expecting to come, but I was really happy that they made it.

-I’m going to get a drink. I’ll be back. – I said on Sue’s ear.

-Okay!

When I got to the bar, I asked for a shot and sat down a little in front of that hot barmen.

-Happy birthday, Becca! – He said smiling and giving me the shot of vodka.

-Thank’s! – I smiled back.

I noticed someone next to me, wearing a black jacket, avoiding to look at me, I saw.

When I saw the bracelet on his hands, his curly dark hair.. Oh my god.

It was him.

My crush.

I got goosebumps head to toe.

-I already feel bad for being in here without an invitation. Don’t need to look at me that way. – he said to me, laughing.

I was lost in his dark eyes; I was lost in him.

-Ohh, no, I.. – I laughed, embarrassed. – that’s okay. You alone?

-The guys.. mike, Jack.. – yea, the one’s I know. – I like your party.

-Thanks. – I smiled. – But it seems you aren’t enjoying that much.

-Yea, maybe not.. – he sighed. – I’m Brad, by the way.

He turned to me, kissing my cheek.

-Yea. I know.

-You know? – he frowned. – I mean, I knew you before, but..

-You knew? – I frowned.

-Let’s go outside? I can barely hear you. –Sure.

We got out and found a park bench in the back of the club; thanks to God there was no couple joking up there.

-It’s better that way. – He said, sitting down.

-Yea, it is. – I said, sitting next to him. – How come you know me? You know, no need to make up a crazy story just to tell me that, since you are here without my invitation.

-No, no, it’s not that way, I swear. – Brad said, laughing and looking at me. – You are so famous at my school.

-How come? – I said again.

-The boys in there talk a lot about you. – I frowned. – You don’t know about that, huh? – I denied it. – Yeah. I already hear about you so many times.

-Yea. So did I about you. – I said and sighed.

The nervosism and my shyness was going away, thanks to God.

-And that’s bad?

-No? No, not at all. Why?

-you seemed a little disappointed to say that.

-Yeah. That’s why I was going to invite you, to be honest. But I was a little shy..

-Well, here I am, anyway! – we laughed – why you were going to invite me?

-why you weren’t enjoying the party? – we asked at the same time. – You first. – I said.

-I just.. I.. – Brad sighed. – I was feeling a little down these days, wasn’t in the mood for a party. But the guys wanted me to come also trying to make me feel better.

-I see. My mother seemed more excited than me for this party. I don’t like big stuffs.. all that attention on me, you know?

-Yea. You look like that.

I smiled.

-Now you tell me. – He turned to me, putting his arms on the bench. – why you were going to invite me?

-I don’t know. – I shrugged.

He looked at me.

-I wanted to know you.

-I wanted to know you too, Becca. But you know.. with all these guys talking about you..I dind’t want to be another strange for you.

-And now you are talking with me!

-Yea, I am. – we laughed. – And I’m happy about that.

-So am I.

-You know, it is akward. It’s your 16th birthday part and you are here outside.. kinda wanting to know more about me..when tonight is all about you;

- don’t like it, as I said. I like that way.

-Don’t you wanna dance?

-Maybe.

Brad got up and stretched out his hand. He pulled mine and we came back to the party. We open the way trough the people to the dance floor. Once we got there, we started to dance.

It was like a dream coming true.

-There you are! – Sue came up a little bit later, grabbing my arm. – Oh.. Hello!

-Hey. – Brad said, blushing.

-So.. Sue, this is Brad. Brad, this is my bf Sue.

-Whats up! – he hugged her.

-I’m fine. – she smiled at him and looked at me – can I steal her for one sec?

-Yea, yea. I’ll be at the bar. – he said pointing.

-Okay.

I followed Sue next to her, and as soon as she stopped, I asked her:

-What? Did something happened?

-Actually, I was going to tell you that he was here.. but when I saw you I didn’t notice that was him
that you were dancing with.

-Wath’s your problem, girl? – we laughed.

-Did you talk?

-A little.

-Is he a “crasher”?

-A little. – I laughed. – You know, yea. But to me, no.

-Huh.. gotcha. Listen, Jack asked me to go to a party tomorrow. Jack! Guess who’s going to be there
too?

-Brad.

-And guess who’s going with me?

-Your beautiful bf that just turned 16! – we laughed and hugged. – I’ll be back to my love.

-Ok. I’ll be on the other side, talking to my love. – she ment Jack, of course.

I came back to the bar, but Brad wasn’t there.

-Hey, Bec. – Ricky said, the barmen. – Brad had to leave, okay?

-Uh. Ok! Thanks.

Sure I eas expecting that.

Everything was too good to be true.

-

The party ended around 00pm because the club was supposed to close early.

Sue came home with me and we fall asleep as on as we got in my room.

In the middle of the night I saw my cellphone light up. I took it, angry as hell because it was about 3am and some douchbag woke me. But when I saw a Brad’s message, I soon smiled.

“Are you awake? I hope so.. I’m at your door. Xx Brad”

What’s this boy problem?

I got up carefully not to wake up Sue, took a look in the mirror and brushed my hair before get down;

I found Brad leaning on a tree next to my window.

-What are you doing here? – I crossed my arms.

-I don’t know. – He shrugged. – I thought about coming in here to see you.

-Why did you leave?

-My ex girlfriend showed up in the party. I didn’t want to see her.

-Oh, I see.

-So, listen, let’s take a ride?

-Brad. It is 3am. – laughed.

-So what?

-Ok. – I gave up. – let’s go. – I sighed.

He opened his door car for me to get in and as soon as I did, he got in the drivers side, taking the car
away.

-where are we going?

-Celebrate your birthday.

-That’s over, right? – he smiled at me.

-The party never ends, babe.

-

He took me to the beach.

At 3am.

I didn’t know if I thought about it as a dream or a crazzyness.

-I’m happy for you being here, with me. – I frowned when he said.

We were on the sand, next to each other.

-Yea, it’s akward but don’t freak out. – I looked at him. – I said about the people in my school liking
you so much, and actually, it was for take out of you a reaction, because actually, it’s me that like you so much. Since a long time, Becca. But I always asked me, “how will I talk to her without looking
desesperate?” because honestly, I was. I didn’t want to freak you out. I know it would be hard for you.. hear it all from a guy that always have a girlfriend in here, other there.. but it is exactly that that is bothering me. I want someone. Someone all to myself. It was when I got lost in your eyes, started to look for parties that you would be.. Girl, I even have photos of you in my phone. – He pointed to his cellphone. – I know it is crazzy but..I want you.

My God.

I couldn’t breath.

-Brad.. – I looked at him, laughed, almost crying. – You have no ideia how much I wanted to hear
that.

-Oh my God. – he sighed, seemed relieved. – you have no idea how much I though you weren’t going to say these words.

-Why?

-Because! You are Becca. The popular, the wanted..

-And you are Brad, the wanted, the popular.. Why do you think I was embarrassed to invite you to my party?

-Yea. And I crash into it anyway.

-Yea. – I said, coming close to him, putting my hand on the beck of his neck.

-Yea.

His hands found their way to my hair and our tongues met each other.

It was so good to know him that way..

It was so much better than I imagined.

-I’m late but.. Happy sweet 16, babe.

I kissed him, smiling.

Sweet 16.
